The Deluxe - Intro Kit is an extended introductory kit for working with Denovo space maintainers, allowing the maintainer to be fitted directly at the patient's chair.
The Deluxe Introductory Kit includes:
- 78 bands, 1 of each of 39 sizes for maxilla and mandible
- 78 wide and narrow distancing wires (6 distal shoe type, 34 without occlusal rests, 6 with occlusal rests, and 32 drop wire type)
- 1 pair of pliers for crimping wires into the maintainer's tubes
- 1 demonstration model
- Band removing pliers
- Professional band seater for seating bands and crowns
The bands and wires are packaged in two interconnected sets of boxes with drawers and inserts, providing easy access, organization, and convenience for reordering.
The entire 3-step procedure can be performed directly at the chair, in just a few minutes, during a single visit—before the patient's anesthesia wears off:
- Try on the space maintainer band.
- Insert the wire, adapt it to the interdental space, and crimp the tubes.
- Cement the maintainer in place.
Technique
Begin by selecting 1-3 approximate band or crown sizes from the Denovo Space Maintainer kit and try them on the tooth adjacent to the gap.
A properly fitted band should slide onto the tooth snugly, with slight resistance—the better the fit, the greater the durability of the maintainer.
If a band has been tried on but not fully seated, it should be sterilized and returned to the kit.
Wires are available in narrow and wide versions, suitable for smaller and larger bands. In the Denovo kit, band sizes are color-coded according to their corresponding wire type.
Types of wires and their applications:
- Drop wires – bent upwards, prevent gingival impingement.
- Plain wires – very ductile, can be easily adapted to various clinical situations.
- Occlusal rest wires – provide additional stability and support by bending onto the occlusal surface.
- Distal shoe – when properly placed and confirmed by X-ray, can be placed subgingivally when the first permanent molar has not yet fully erupted.
Trim the selected wire (if necessary), insert it into the tubes, reseat the band, and thread the wire through the gap to maintain space. Gently bending the loop to conform to the natural gum contour prevents tissue irritation.
Crimp the tubes with a firm, circular motion to securely fasten the wires. Finally, cement the finished maintainer using your preferred glass ionomer cement.
More information about the technique can be found in our full 3D demonstration video.
